Zomato Mobile App Review : Everything You Must Know

I have been using the Zomato Mobile App for quite sometime.
Whether it is for dinning, home delivery, party with relatives and what not. I must say it is quiet handy for foodies.
Well, here I will not only explain everything about the app like benefits, pros & cons, technical aspects and more.
Before I start, let me tell you about the device and research environment that I used for the test.
Testing Device & Environment
I used Oneplus 5 (8GB RAM) with Android Nougat (7.1.1) for the test.
For internet , I used Airtel 4G and Broadband over the period. I tested it in various times of the day for service consistency test.
Technical Specifications
I found the following technical specifications of the app during my research, which are useful.
Operating System : Android
Memory Used : 62.93 MB
Permissions Required : Camera , contacts, location (GPS), phone, storage, prevent phone from sleeping, full internet access, run at startup, enable WLAN and control vibration.
Benefits of The App
I found the Zomato mobile app to be useful for any foodies. It has features customized by keeping the vast categories of Indian foodies in mind.
Whether I want to order a home delivery from a big reputed restaurant or from a small restaurant of my locality, want to book a table in a 5 Star Hotel’s restaurant, enjoy nightlife in bars or get yummy cakes from famous bakeries , go for tea breaks, or choose a special venue as per occasions, its all there.
Various easy payment options are available, like Netbanking, Cash on delivery, Wallet, Debit / Credit cards and Zomato credits.
The app shows un-biased reviews from old customers of the listed outlets. The app clearly shows the ratings of the food outlets which helps us to choose the place , wisely. The restaurants’ menu cards are shown clearly to choose.
We foodies are fond of sharing our special moments on Facebook and Instagram. The Zomato app also have inbuilt option for sharing them with our friends on these social sites.
Who Can Use This App
The Zomato mobile App is useful for all types of users. You may be an IT professional who stays at home alone and like to taste exciting foods , or may be a college student who stays in hostel, or may stay with family, it is for all of you.
Security and Safety
To function as desired, the Zomato mobile app requires permissions like reading SMS and track location. Which might be keeping the users at a security and safety risk.
So, I checked whether the app is sending any of my personal sensitive data to any specific server over the internet. But, it satisfactory to find out that it is not sending any such data.
It reads SMS on for the OTPs that were meant for the app itself and tracks the device location to show the nearest food outlets listed on it. We found the Zomato App is safe and secure.
Pros of The App
After thoroughly testing and researching this app , I found it to be useful. It helped me to take informed decision to choose the best suitable restaurant.
As the search algorithm on the app is giving high priority to the ratings and reviews of the food outlets, so I can find the best on the top of the search result.
The user interface and user experience is great. I can manage all the functions of the app single-handedly.
Cons of The App
Well, as far as cons are concerned, the Zomato mobile app do have some. The memory that is occupied by the app on my device after download is 62.93 MB.
I must say that it is quite large. As it uses GPS and internet at the same time, so the power consumption is high. As it gets activated after the device gets on, so it works in background.
This used to consume more battery and RAM which is not good for the device.
